One of the most successful games of 2025 to date is the long-awaited remaster of the beloved Elder scroll title.
Released last month as a Shadow Drop, the Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion Remastered, has set the world fired up.
Over 4 million people have entered the world of Cyrodil, including those who have bought the game and those who enjoy it with Xbox Game Pass.
However, it wasn’t always smooth sailing. Of course, I feel that is lined up in Bethesda games, but I think some of the profits of Remastering Oblivion are dealing with some of the game’s bugs and technical Hiccups. Unfortunately, experts say new bugs are pop-ups that are desperately needed to fix.
The Digital Foundry team is doing technical testing in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and discovered a major bug that caused a system crash when loading saves.
They said, “The more you look at the console version, the more problems you get. The platform doesn’t escape problems. Whether it’s a PS5, a PS5 Pro, or an Xbox series machine, you’re all fighting traversal hitches while roaming the open world.”
Plus, bugs and framerate issues that break some games start to pop up as you play the game longer. A simple fix is resetting the game, but still, how did this happen?
Digital Foundry speculates that the game was rushing through the door before it was ready, but its existence was not officially confirmed until a few days before its release.
It can be argued that the game was pushed out to meet certain financial deadlines, but the launch date in April does not coincide with the end of the financial quarter. There were no holes in the Xbox release calendar either. Midnight South will be released in early April, with Doom: The Dark Ages coming out this week.
Even in games from 20 years ago, making games proves complicated. Who knew?
