Nintendo’s latest Nintendo Direct comes at a strange time. It’s just a week before the company lifts its veil with Switch 2 and next-generation Nintendo software. Thursday’s Nintendo Direct was all about the games that appear in the original Switch that may feel ancient in 2025, but with over 150 million Switch consoles on the market, the console has a massive audience that needs new games.
This seems like a direct from the big Nintendo last on the original Switch, as Nintendo is set to move on to Switch 2. The showcase will be like a send-off for popular consoles. However, at least two Nintendo games announced on Thursday have not come until 2026, indicating that there is still a lot of life left on the consoles today.
