Elden Ring Nightreign will soon allow players to stop by Limveld’s changing lands and explore and fight for survival in Solo or a group of three. However, for the duo out there, it sounds like it should be open to a third.
In an interview with Passthecontroller with Ishizaki Junya, director of Elden Ring Nightrign, Nightreign lead discussed the choice to rely on solos and trios as core experience options. When asked why a pair of players had no option to stop by together without a third player in the matchmaid, Ishizaki said he was overlooked.
“The simple answer is that this was simply overlooked during development as a choice for two players. So I’m sorry,” Ishizaki said. “As I said before, we tried to make this a three-player multiplayer cooperative game. We managed to balance the three players, so that’s the main focus and that’s the core of Nightreign.
“Of course, I understand that myself and often want an era where I play, so this was something I thought of from the beginning,” Ishizaki continued. “And we’ve put a lot of effort into creating this experience that is playable for solo players as much as the rules and the new system allowed. So, by putting all the effort into that aspect, we overlooked and ignored the aspect of DUOS, which is something we consider as we look at support after launch.”
Therefore, if you’re playing with your favorite duo partner, be prepared to accept a random third into your life. who knows? You might match someone who is pretty good at the game.
If you’re solo, it sounds like the Elden Ring Night League taking that into consideration. Ishizaki said that the Eldenling Night League parameters are “dynamically adjusted according to the number of players in that session.”

You will need to find and find some self-reconstruction options built into for those who choose single-player. And if you’re playing the trio, it’s apparently something that the Elden Ring Night League is being built. Whether Duos support appears or not, having an extra hand won’t hurt some of the scary bosses waiting in Nightreign.
Elden Ring Nightreign will be appearing on May 30, 2025 on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Series X and S.
