In addition to the roughly 100 job cuts reported earlier today at Respawn Entertainment, EA has made wider cuts across today’s organization, affecting around 300 individuals in total, including those already reported.
Passthecontroller understands that these broader reductions have had a significant impact on EA’s experience team. This includes groups such as the EA fan care team and various groups working on customer support and marketing, but other EA departments also saw cuts. Like other cuts in EA, those affected will be given the opportunity to apply for other roles internally before letting go.
“As part of a continuous focus on long-term strategic priorities, we have made changes to our choice within our organization to coordinate teams more effectively and allocate resources to drive future growth,” an EA spokesperson said in an official statement.
“We treat people with caution and respect throughout this process, minimizing the impact by exploring new opportunities within the company where possible, and helping to provide support during the transition.”
The approximately 100 jobs affected in Respawn included individual Apex Legends development, publishing and QA workers. It also included a small group of individuals working on two cancelled incubation projects with Jedi teams.
These cuts followed many other layoffs in the past few years at EA, including the elimination of 50 jobs at Bioware in 2023 and the elimination of unknown numbers at Codemasters, and in 2024, 670 workers were layed off completely.
