Dragon Age star Alix Wilton Regan gave her personal reaction to the backlash that the Dragon era faced last year: Bailguard denounced the “mixed reactions” of people “wants to fail, or want to see (bioware) to fail.”
Actors who play female Inquisitors in both Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age: Belgard said that despite positive review scores from critics, Bioware’s latest game is “absolutely devastated” to see that they can’t find a larger audience.
Speaking in a new interview discussing many iconic video game characters up to now and her role in Microsoft’s upcoming Perfector Criboot, Wilton Regan said she loved her time as a Bioware Inquisitor, but she didn’t believe the character would return.
“For Biowaré, as a studio that has gotten such a complicated response to the game, I feel absolutely devastated,” Wilton Regan said of his reaction to Bailguard. “Personally, I thought it was a really strong game. I thought bioware was just more bioware.
“I think a lot of people wanted to see it fail, or (Bioware) wanted to fail because they’re really bad people on the internet.
At the time of release, Belgard was review bombed online. The criticism that the game “wakes up” focuses on the inclusion of non-binary companion characters and the ability of players to choose to become transgender. In Steam, Dragon Age: Bail Guard is respected by “mixed” players, with user-defined tags describing it under the “LGBTQ+” and “Politics” labels.
“People were attacking the game before it was released,” Wilton Regan continued. “That’s ridiculous. How do you judge a game, a book, a movie, or a TV show before it actually releases?

In January, publisher EA said Dragon Age: Bailguard was “low performer” against about 50% expectations a few days after game director Colleen Bush confirmed she was leaving the company. Meanwhile, other Bioware staff who worked on the game were fired.
In the same month, Bioware announced it released the last update for Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
“I just want to see the people of Bioware thrive because I adore them,” concluded Wilton Regan. “And no matter what they do next, their talent will be rewarded in great numbers. We can get more money from them in the future.”
Slimmed-Down Bioware is currently working on Mass Effect 5, but currently has no release date.
