DOOM: The Dark Ages Guide – 15 Tips and Tricks to Keep in Mind

The fate of the Agadon Hunter in the Dark Ages

dOOM: The Dark Ages are above us. That means players will soon step into the legendary Doom Slayer’s Boots and fight in hellish medieval wars. As with Doom Games, there’s a lot going on in Dark Ages’ instant gameplay. Many of them feel completely fresh to the series from a new design approach where Doom is not really known, from Doom, Doom, Doom, Formulas that hold Doom, Doom, Doom, and formulas that use different spins, to the last two tweaks. Keep everything straight in your head and grip it faster as you dive into the game. Here we’ll look at some tips and tricks to keep in mind when playing Doom: The Dark Ages.

Find your difficulties

For many, this challenge is a big part of the experience of fate, but we found that there are many people up until the dark ages. ID software works together to provide more options for accessibility. The main ones are sliders that allow you to fine-tune the difficulty of certain things, such as Parry’s windows, damage, damage done, resource values, game speed, and more. A certain amount of biting and challenge will definitely make destiny: the battles of the Dark Ages will soon sing, and you should find the setting you are the most comfortable and can actually play with.

Explore

Some light explorations have always been part of the Doom gameplay loop, but DAR year is blown to a wider scale than ever before. Some of its 22 levels are set in a vast, half-open map that allows plenty of space for exploration and optional content. Our advice? Take your time to pass these levels as thoroughly as possible. Speeding the levels is appealing when you’re in the flow of things, but doing so means you’ll miss out on lots of optional resources and collectibles. Oh, and speaking of resources…

Find the money

One resource I want to stock as much as possible is gold. Scattered throughout the Dark Age levels, there is a considerable amount of gold and you can find the currency used to buy Slayer tools and weapon upgrades, but it is definitely worth asking. From chests to hidden areas and routes, there are plenty of places in the game where money is hidden, so don’t take your eyes off it.

Upgrade your combat shotgun

As an ID software game and fate title, it should not be a surprise to anyone who boasts of an incredible shotgun. The combat shotgun serves as the first weapon in the Doom Slayer in the game. This is a weapon that uses a lot throughout the playthrough. So, it’s best to start investing in a shotgun upgrade early as it’s more likely to use it than most other weapons.

Upgrade your shield saw

Shield Saw is another staple from Doom’s Doom Slayer’s Toolkit: The Dark Ages. Therefore, you need to start the upgrade early. Parry and Block, and other shield-specific movements, are a big part of the Dark Age move set, and they help you improve your skills on that front.

Throw a shield

A shield saw is more than just a defensive tool. This is a fateful game, so it doubles as a weapon, not just a shield. If a circular chainsaw is added to its edge, the shield saw is thrown at the enemy, recalled back in the hands of the Slayer, and understanding the proper timing and placement of the throw can change the tide of battle. Throw it at a big enemy, the shield will temporarily align it just to its skinline, and it will slice all the enemies on that path back into your hands.

Shield Bash

Destiny for the image of dark times

Shield Bash is another move that wants to hang as quickly as possible. Because you use it a lot. Thankfully, this game will teach you early on. You can instantly close your distance to enemies and attack with a vague melee attack. In fact, shield bashes can be used cleverly or as a very evasive move. Just use it on a distant enemy while trying to put some distance between you and another enemy and will quickly zip you.

Parry

The main purpose of Shield Saw is to, of course, serve as a defensive tool for all of its offensive capabilities. Accepting incoming attacks becomes an important part of the fateful gameplay loop. It’s a dark age. So practicing before that is a good idea right away. Thankfully, this game throws you plenty of opportunities to help you hone your fallen skills, so make sure you make good use of them.

Dodge the projectile

DOOM: Dark ages get cues from the gameplay of classic DOOM in several interesting ways. One of the more enjoyable ones is a similar use of slow moving projectile attacks. It’s important to recognize your surroundings and make sure you’re away from the way you infiltrate projectiles, but you can also block and drade those attacks. Spend time on the right of the projectile and it will return to the direction the enemy fires at you.

Weapon switching

The fate of the dark ages

DOOM: Dark Age weapons are well predictable among their greatest strengths, so it is always recommended to go back and forth between them. It’s not only incredibly fun, but it’s actually mechanically convenient. Each weapon will bring its own unique attributes as you might expect, but the different enemies are also affected by the weapon in a variety of ways. Exchange weapons when circumstances are needed is not only encouraged, but is often absolutely necessary.

The enemy’s weakness

Of course, this is a pivotal aspect of Doom gameplay, and the Dark Age continues to emphasize even many of its changes. Dark ages often run from certain enemy types, from the types of enemies that are vulnerable to shield throws to those who can hit the accelerator to generate chain reactions, from larger groups that are suitable for firing from skull crushers, to enemies that require a specific attack that destroys armor first before dealing actual damage.

Glory kills

DOOM: Dark age changes the glory by making faster, more seamless parts of gameplay faster and more seamless parts, but it’s clearly still important. Glory Murder not only acts as a brutal finisher, but also ensures that health pickups are generated and even more valuable. Whenever the glorious killing prompt is seen on a weakened enemy, make sure you are not ignoring it.

Melee attack

The fate of the dark ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages introduced melee attacks into conflict, and Doom Slayer now replenishes its gun-held capabilities, with brutal excess strikes from electric gauntlets, flames and more. These options should definitely not be ignored. This is clearly easy to do with the shooter. Not only is melee attacks hit very hard, but the enemy types are also vulnerable to them, but also produce ammunition drops, which is always useful.

Aggressive play

Above all, Doom: The Dark Ages wants players to stand up and fight. In other words, playing offensively is the name of the game. It’s natural to want to maintain a distance between yourself and the enemy, but reaching the enemy’s face, actively assuming and deflecting attacks, and blowing them up with any offensive tool in the weapon is the most lethal at a dark age.

Replay level

DOOM: Dark Age is a significantly longer game than its predecessor, but on top of that, it also boasts the value of many replays. That level (especially the larger ones) is full of secrets, collectibles, hidden realms, and so on, so it’s always fun to play them to find out what you missed on your first run. If you’re looking for an excuse to continue playing the game after rolling out the credits, this is a good one.
