Bungee isn’t used to making mistakes with Destiny 2, but this is one of the craziest things to date.
A new update to Destiny 2 has launched today, bringing the heresy Act 2 to players, but the one that attracted the most attention was something entirely different.
The event is scheduled to start on April 1st, with the release of the third act of heresy, but it appears someone from Bungee made a mistake and launched it today.
Not only that, players are getting rewards. Something unfinished, then.
Bungie already admitted the mistake in X’s post, stating that players cannot use the reward “until further notice.”
The fun is over
Rite of the Nine is a free event, revamping old dungeons and adding new rewards to complete them without requiring any season passes or expansions.
However, as X’s Destiny Bulletin noticed, Bungie clearly hasn’t completed the rewards yet, and players have received an incomplete version of them. According to PC gamers, when they went to give it a try, it seemed to work more or less perfectly.
However, at the time of writing, it appears that Bungie has already disabled access to rituals for nine activities, according to X’s Bungie Help account.
Destiny 2 hasn’t been the easiest time in years. Last year, Bungie faced massive layoffs, despite continuing to hire new employees, and criticised the massive 300 GB download size of the final shape expansion, and mistakenly cited several instances of drop rates for exotic items.
That being said, once the rituals of nine events are released at the intended time, the event is completely free, making it seem like a good opportunity for new or returning players to stick their toes.
The heresy episode began in February with the release of Act 1, along with the Star Wars crossover event.
