The release of Deltarune Chapter 3 & 4 is on the horizon, and fans have been waiting for years for the game to answer the questions that are bothering them since completing Chapter 2.
Unlike Undertale, which was released in a full package, Deltarune is currently released in an unknown number of chapters, but fans estimate it will be at 7am. To date, two Deltarune branches have been released for free, but the next two will be sold as packages:
Fox has launched Deltarune Chapter 3 & 4 in 2025, and his updates to each status suggest that the release is even closer. It’s time to wonder once again about the mysteries where chapters 3 and 4 are on the horizon, and we still need answers.
10 What is your deal with Father Alvin?
The priest has something to hide
Father Alvin may be the most mysterious character in Deltarné’s world of light, despite hanging out in the background. Nonetheless, there are hints that he plays a much bigger role than everyone has realised.
After Chris and Susie return to the world of light, their strange comments on his name in the classroom, as well as repeated references to the Boom family, which are more important in Deltarn, are one of the most important characters introduced to date.
Father Alvin is one of the most powerful candidates to be a knight of the Ross, on the same level as Chris. If he is as important as the game suggests, it’s time for those hints to be rewarded in chapters 3 and 4.
9 What is the purpose of Shadow Crystal?
Players need better rewards to defeat bonus bosses
Deltarune featured two bonus bosses that you can fight after the story. Chapter 1 is Jevil and Chapter 2 is Spamton Neo.
The only thing is that the Shadow Crystal still does nothing. They currently lack purpose in the game, but in chapters 3 and 4, it is suspected that players will gather more from the extra bonus bosses.
Why is shadow crystals so important? They are bound to some of the most difficult fights in the game, so there is certainly a benefit to collecting them. And what happens when players pass through the story without collecting it? Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 need to establish why it is important.
8 What happened incredibly on a strange route?
Did the bird survive the snowman?
For games where choices are not important, Deltarné’s second chapter ended with a very divergent storyline. The people who played it were running around normally, usually like he seemed unharmed by his experience in the dark world, and ended the game.
But if someone is playing the strange/snowman route, Chris is ordered to kill like crazy by Ness, he will not wake up in the light world and the game is ambiguous about his fate.
Did he die badly in the bright world when his dark world equivalent was hit by a spell? How do chapters 3 and 4 handle this major apparent change in the storyline? This is one of the biggest questions fans have had since the strange route was discovered.
7 What’s going on in Susie’s family life?
Susie’s story may be the saddest in Deltarn
The first two Deltarné chapters provided hints about Susie’s home life outside of adventure in the main plot, but they are not comfortable. It is strongly suggested that Susie deals with the darkness and explains some of the events seen so far.
Susie’s appearance, including chalk, and her ability to eat everything, suggested to fans that she would come from the poor background she was trying to hide from.
If Chapter 3 highlights Toriel, it could be a way to learn more. In particular, consider how well they both did at the end of Chapter 2.
6 Why didn’t papyrus appear yet?
It’s time to lift up some bones
When Sands appeared in Chapter 1 of Deltarn, fans became obsessed with meeting his adorable, ridiculous brother, Papyrus. The only problem is he never showed up. That’s not a big deal, is it? Chapter 1 was so short that I certainly didn’t have time to properly introduce him.
Later, chapter 2 came, and despite mentioning his younger brother and assuring the players that he would meet in the future, he still had no papyrus.
Why is Fox hugging fans to show the Deltalone version of Papyrus? He was able to easily slot into the story in Chapter 2, taking into account many other undertail characters from his hometown. Obviously, papyrus is saved for something big, but what exactly is there?
5 What will happen to Death Holiday?
Noel’s sister’s mystery needs to be solved
The fate of Noel’s missing sisters is one of Deltarn’s biggest mysteries, but it is something that has been mentioned only a few times in the game. Death Holiday is referenced in the Spamton sweepstakes, and fans believe she will play a role in upcoming events.
The only thing is that no one knows what happened to Death. Has she died or has she gone missing? Is the mystical text in the Deltarune file intended to be a death that is somehow trapped in the game itself?
What makes Death’s frustrating is that it may not be easily important to the story, but it is just a mystery behind the scenes for the most stubborn fans to contemplate. Anyway, fans need to learn more about Death in Chapters 3 and 4 to prove whether she is related to the story.
4 What is the Onion song?
Is water song really important?
Onion (or the name the player gave them) is an infuriating person in the world of Deltarn.
In Chapter 1, they can say that they have a secret to tell Chris the next day. If the player goes back to Chapter 2 and acts like an onion friend, they will say they will hear the song at night. Again, the onion tells Chris to return the next day.
So what is the deal with the song, and why is it important to Deltarné’s story? Is it connected to a dark fountain? Why does this sea monster continue to tease players with interesting secrets?
3 Who are Mike, C, Tena, and Prouie?
Deltarune needs a face of the name
Deltarune has a number of characters with names that have not yet appeared. During his encounter with Spamton in Chapter 2, he repeatedly mentions a character named “Mike.” Fans speculate that it is the TV smile that will be seen at the end of this chapter, but this has not been confirmed yet.
C appears to be the Asgore landlord, only the first person mentioned. Fans speculate that this could be Noel’s mother, who has a holiday-themed name like Carol and Christmas, but if Asgore’s role is expanded in future chapters, it could be a new character.
Tena and Pruey were mentioned by Toby Fox in a blueski post. Nothing is known about these characters, but it clearly appears in chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune. Knowing Fox, it’s probably one notebook joke NPC, but fans have to wait and watch.
2 What is the deal with eggs?
Who is giving out free eggs?
Deltarn has two instances in which a mysterious man who can give Chris an egg can find a hidden tree standing behind it. These encounters are difficult to find, and the eggs serve no purpose other than strange interactions that allow them to replicate themselves.
Like Shadow Crystals, it is unclear whether eggs have any effect on the story, or whether collecting them will reward players. The fact that they are so hidden suggests that they have some value or that they could be linked to characters that have not yet appeared.
Or Fox is making another joke, thrilling fans with useless items. After all, how important is eggs really?
1 Is Chris a Knight of Ross?
The evidence is piled up
Chapter 2 ended with a huge cliffhanger as Chris is shown to open a dark fountain. This raises all sorts of questions about whether they were knights who had been roaring all along. Rather, without the soul leading them, Chris is responsible for everything that’s going on in the game.
Things – Will Fox reveal the mystery of the identity of the Rosound Knight early in the story? There’s clearly more going on here than the eye can see. It is still unknown who opened the previous two dark fountains, and players are in control of Chris when they are dragged into them.
Much of the evidence points to Chris, like Father Alvin, that other candidates for the role are still other candidates. This is one of Deltarné’s biggest mysteries, and we’ve seen Chris’ role in opening the dark fountain, so we should finally learn more in the next part of the story.
