The Death Stranding 2 release, set on PS5 on June 26th, may not be delayed.
Those planning to play Death, those planning to play on the beach when it’s released later this year can choose what to prioritize in the game. Visual fidelity or how smoothly it plays?
Kojima Productions has not made an official announcement, but multiple previews have surfaced over the past week, confirming the graphical mode of Death Stranding 2.
Death Stranding2: confirmed at the launch of Beach Performance and Quality Mode
Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley confirmed this on X (formerly Twitter). He said the games he played will run at 60 frames (FPS) in Performance mode and 30fps in Quality mode. Keighley preferred to play the game with performances. I think most gamers will choose this too.
The newly revived Game Inforter saw this in a hands-on preview. I mentioned that Performance Mode is the recommended setting. From the preview: “As as sharp as the fidelity-focused quality mode, it is highly recommended to switch to performance mode. I highly recommend that the game play spectacularly when running at 60 frames per smooth 60 frames.
Note that both modes will be available on the base PS5. This means there will be more enhancements to the PS5 Pro version.
Death Stranding 2: Beach’s release date is locked on PS5 June 26th and doesn’t look like it’s late. As Sony pushes Ghost of Yotei as a big 2025 release, the release date for Death Stranding 2 appears to be well planted. Of course, unless Kojma pushes the game in 2026, it’s unlikely that Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for May 2026, and it’s a game that allows Kojima to affect the game’s release date.
Speaking of Kojma and the franchise, the game director hasn’t closed the doors in Stranding 3 of Death, but don’t expect him to helm it because it seems like he’ll tell someone else to focus on other projects.
