Sony has announced a new special edition of the dual sense controller. This time, we’ll celebrate future releases Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The controller is said to be made in close cooperation with the production of Kojima, with plenty of design clues from upcoming games, such as The Insignia and The Motto of the Drawbridge. Please see the controller photos below.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach The limited edition dual sense controller is available directly from the PlayStation website, with pre-orders coming out on May 22nd. The price is $84.99 and the controller is available in limited quantities only. It will be released on the same day Death Scheme 2 – June 26th.
As for design, the limited edition DualSense does not include any new features. But it bears an impressive visual design. The trackpad is dominated by the motto “To protect and connect both the stick and the rope, for tomorrow.” Both grips also have additional orange details, including barcodes and various numbers that may have some relevance in the game.
However, aside from these orange details, the controller is essentially a regular black dual sense controller, with perfectly subdued colors that the controller is known for. Meanwhile, on the back of the controller, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach The June 26th release date was released through a trailer released earlier this year on the SXSW 2025 special panel. This trailer stitches together various parts of the upcoming game and introduced many new characters, including new characters played by Luca Marinelli.
Kojima detailed his decision to cast Marinelli in the role of new character Neil, including details on how he came to know about the actor thanks to works like Netflix’s The Old Guard. As Marinelli worked on eight mountains, the two were finally able to have a conversation through online calls.
“When I told him I was looking for someone to play Lucy, he introduced me to his wife Alyssa. He’s also an actress (and filmmaker). We did scans and performance captures during the height of the pandemic, and their onset performances were fantastic,” Kojima said. “Even the small bits in the trailer, even the digitized results can be appreciated by Luca and Alyssa for agreeing to run it when they didn’t have the script yet.”
Kojima Productions has also revealed details about the Deluxe and Collector editions Death Stranding 2: On the Beachthe latter priced at $229.99 and features many physical merchandise, including a collector’s box and a 15-inch Magellan Man statue. It also includes letters written by Kojima. Interestingly, despite all the physical content of Collector’s Edition, the game itself is available through a digital download code.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach It is developed exclusively for the PS5.
