Joure Nisser, the creator of last year’s Do scrame, has announced Deadcam, a new “analog survival horror” game that uses the 90’s Found Footage VHS Camcorder Aesthetic to scare a series of files.
Built in the Unrealistic Engine 5, Deadcam features three weapons in its first file. Katana, shotgun, and pistol. Each file is built to complete in about an hour. However, while three different endings are available, replayability is burned into it, Nisser says, “Only one 100% play rate, or just one unlocks the ‘Good’ ending.”
Nisser provides an explanation of this gameplay. “Deadcam’s discovered footage recordings are watching players through different stories. Each file features a unique setting, story and gameplay mechanism that matches the story’s tone. Throughout each file, retro UI elements monitor the size and speed of nearby swarms of enemies.”
DeadCam will launch on June 23rd with Steam Early Access, set to a school with its first file, J-Horror-inspired stories, with four more files added during the early access period. If you’re interested, please add it to your wish list on Steam.
