Five nights at Freddie’s will finally die in the daytime, but Developer Behavior Interactive still has a solid list of horror icons you want to add to your collection.
The team behind the unpopular asymmetric horror experience talked about their hopes and dreams during their conversation with Passthecontroller. As you can imagine, the studio is always thinking about the next killer and survivor that can be added to the lineup. But what you may not know is that some members of the team are aiming for a particular name.
Killer designer and horror enthusiast Jay Songzzo has helped bring infamous killers like Chucky, Dracula and Spring Trap into the world of groups in the past. The crossover shows an important moment for the action and its fans, but Guzzo says the franchise he was bent backwards to make it happen is things.
“As far as I know, it’s not something that’s been discussed above me, but my dreams, and perhaps my favorite horror film, are obvious: things,” Guzzo said. “I want things to be (dead during the day). I’ve been here for two and a half years, and I was on the crusades to find a way to kill things in the sunlight.”
Guzzo reiterates that his desire to tackle the Thing chapter is not a hint for what goes on. There are also several factors that could potentially keep such collaborations unprecedented. He acknowledges the “potential design problems” that comes with creating playable video game versions of what is essentially a complex copycat killer. That said, it’s still one series where he’s “on the Crusades to finish at some point.”
Meanwhile, Dead by Daylight Creative Director Dave Richard points out that conversations about Dream Killers are nothing new to the behavioral team. A name like Pennywise appears as one villain who finds it “surprising”, but Richard doesn’t want to stop there.
“There are other amazing kings of terror,” says Richard. “You could guess any of them, I think. Frankly, I just want to gather them all.”
Obviously, there are still many monsters dying in response to sunlight, but some of the less obvious names also came up in the discussion.
“One other thing we share all the time,” Richard added. “They may be pretty much kidding, but I think there’s a way to make them work, especially in the timeline: Cujo. Christine.”
Cujo, of course, is the prestigious Rabid Dog of Stephen King’s novel and adaptation of the 1983 film. Dog killers are not at all from characters in games that feature human characters, mainly Ghost Face and Michael Myers, but that’s not impossible at all. Meanwhile, Richard’s mention of King’s Christine will see killer cars join the roster if they understand how to make the action work.
If one thing is certain, it is that daytime death shows no signs of slowing down as its barrel towards its nineth anniversary. Five Nights in Freddie’s Chapter will officially be on sale on June 17th, with Spring Trap and Pizzeria Maps folded.
