Last month, when Nintendo’s Switch 2 was revealed, we saw the usual suspect: the first-party Nintendo games discovered by Mario & Company were no surprises.
It was announced that there was a shock as mature third-party titles like Cyberpunk 2077 were announced.
CD Projekt Red believes Nintendo audiences are different from last few years
According to CD Projekt Red’s Vice President of Business Development (via the gaming business), Nintendo’s audience has grown much more widely than it was a few years ago.
“Nintendo’s audience is growing and expanding, and that’s quite different from what it used to be, even a few years ago.” I think Nintendo recognizes that. I’ve also seen a lot of titles announced on Switch 2. That said, I had a very cool experience with The Witcher 3 on the original Switch. And we know that we have an appetite for Big Open World AAA RPGS. This will usually be released on PCs and (other) consoles.”
Notably, CD Projekt Red released the Witcher 3 on the original Switch. Even if there are no actual numbers, developers still seem to be happy with their performance.
Rossner said, “I remember a conversation from a few years ago (here) I was wondering if there was an audience of this kind of game on the Nintendo Switch.” At the time, The Witcher 3 was one of the first games of its kind.
Apart from Cyberpunk 2077, other mature games released on Switch 2 include Elden Ring, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intrgrade, Street Fighter 6, Star Wars Outlaws, Borderlands 4, and Hitman. I hope that a more mature, action-oriented title will reach Switch 2.
In other words, I wouldn’t do that After racing in Mario Kart, you want to redo your headshot, right?
CyberPunk 2077 will be available on Switch 2 on June 5th on the same day as the console’s release. You can read about the challenges of CDProjektRed developing games on Nintendo’s upcoming consoles.
