Following the 2.2 update of Cyberpunk 2077, many of us believed it would become a curtain for Night City, at least as far as the story of V and Johnny Silverhand is concerned.
2.2 was actually called the “last major update” of the game, but it introduced a variety of fixes and improvements, including customising car paint and Secret Baratro Quest.
Now in six months, Cyberpunk 2077 appears to be receiving yet another, potentially major update. During the Redstream Nintendo Switch Demo, Associate Game Director Pawel Sasko said he would “personally take care of the updates,” and details of that will continue shortly.
More gas in the tank?
The news is something of a surprise considering that the studio is currently starting work on the Cyberpunk sequel (Project Orion) and is also in the development of the highly anticipated Witcher 4.
Today, he posted again, telling fans “look for more details” along with a photo of the default man V in a basketball jersey.
While opinions differ as to whether the update is merely a technical adjustment and a full-scale DLC, CDPR’s Global Community Director Marcin Momot said in December 2024 that “the team still has some gas left in the tank.”
Given that Project Orion is still in some way, Cyberpunk fans are looking forward to once again the new content from Night City. Given the success of Phantom Liberty and the progressive improvements to the game, it seems like it’s not easy to keep loyal players happy and provide the best possible experience.
In the meantime, the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is still very much alive with the comic series Psycho Squad being made available earlier this year along with the Cyberpunk 2077 comics.
It was also confirmed that a new animation show could be heading towards Netflix later this year, so Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely not dead.
