Codemasters recently announced that it has ended development EA Sports WRC And that was that development was suspended in all future Rally Race Sims. As many people now suspect, the studio is confirming that the change is closely linked to the wave of layoffs.
Codemasters confirmed with VGC that it was also a “role elimination” as it concluded the Rally Racing Development Pipeline. The studio hasn’t said exactly how much work it cuts down, but it says it will reassign some people from other studios and projects across EA Sports.
“As a business, we are constantly evolving our focus on our entire portfolio, meeting the growing needs of our players,” said a Codemasters spokesperson. “This has led us to redeploy as many redeployments as possible for strategic priorities, while also turning to several role cuts.”
The only electronic art studio that suffers from layoffs is not the outfit master. Last week, EA confirmed that it eliminated roughly 300 roles in all studios, including Respawn Entertainment.
