Currently, the marathon is scheduled for release in September, but Sony’s lack of marketing could affect the launch.
Last month, Bungie clearly revealed that the latest project is in September, seeing the light of day that it is not related to the Destiny franchise.
Unfortunately, after the release of the marathon, players’ feedback from closed alphas did not shine accurately, so things went downhill quickly due to the studio and games, and there were even issues with the stolen art that the studio had to make a statement to try and contain the stolen rage.
The latest report on the game appears to indicate that Sony may be delaying its extraction shooter.
In the latest episode of the Sacred Symbols Podcast (via TheGamePost), Colin Moriarty said that Sony has cancelled Marathon’s paid marketing initiative, based on those familiar with marketing plans for overseas markets.
Moriarty said, “People who are familiar with marketing plans for major international markets have told me there are no plans to do paid marathon marketing right now. I don’t know if these plans were affected by recent events or if they were always plans.”
Moriarty didn’t say there was a delay, but considering Art Theft Fiasco, which stated that Bungie is reviewing to remove connected assets, mixed feedback from closed tests, and now this? It’s hard to see Sony continue its September release date.
Of course, there’s a lot of time left between now and September, so Bunge can turn things around within that time frame, but still. It’s quite uphill.
With PlayStation Publishing Marathon, the company has yet to address the issue of ART assets and does not suggest that the release date has returned.
The company is rumoured to host a new playing state this June, so perhaps they’ll hear anything about it? We are keeping our eye on what will happen. If Bungie delays the marathon, we hope you will hear it here at DualShockers. For now, the marathon is scheduled to be released on September 23, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.
Do you think the marathon should be delayed based on the bad news you’ve received recently? Or are there any good caution or caution?
