Fans of Elder Scrolls are praising Bethesda after the developer gave him a free game key for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
In a Bluesky post today, the Skyblivion team shared Bethesda outreach news with the community. “As a large fan, we are grateful for the remastered game key of the generous gift of oblivion for our entire mod team! This means so much to us. Thank you for everything, Bethesda!”
Skyblivion is an upcoming fan remake of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, created by the Tesrenewal Volunteer Modding Group. Recreate forgetting in the game’s sequel, Skyrim, using Bethesda’s Creation Engine. The project has been in the works for over a decade, technically, and started out as a simple direct port and has since expanded into a complete remake with many improved features and new content. In 2021, I interviewed one of the developers behind it. Skyblivion is scheduled to be released this year.
Historically, Bethesda and the Skyblivion team are reportedly in “very good conditions,” but as rumors of the official oblivion remaster have grown, some fans have questioned whether Bethesda is about to set out on Skyblivion in its own version towards Skyblivion. A few days ago, anticipating today’s showcase, the Skyblivion team issued a statement addressing these concerns. In it, the team said Bethesda has always been a supporter of community projects like ours, and that “there is no need for a sense of comparison or competition” between the two games.
In particular, Remastered doesn’t have official mod support, but fans have already cooked an array of unofficial mods for the game within hours of release. Furthermore, both versions of Oblivion have their own aspects. For example, Skyblivion is not available on the console at all. Meanwhile, Remastered does not include the new renovated content that Skyblivion has promised, and there will be a Horse Armor DLC at launch for Deluxe Edition buyers. Both versions have different looks and feel. The interpretation of how much Skyrimness should be incorporated into the retread of forgetting is different. And of course you can play Oblivision, which was remastered today, but those looking forward to SkyBlivion will have to wait a little longer.
You can read while we wait Why some players think today’s release is a more remake than a remaster And why did Bethesda choose to give its “remastered” name in the first place?
It comprehensively guides everything in oblivion, including vast interactive maps, complete walkthroughs of the main quest line, all guild quests, how to build the perfect character, what to do first.
