Obsidian Entertainment has released its post-release roadmap for 2025 avowed Side by 1.4 Update Patch Notes.
Details of the present and future of fantasy RPG have been posted Obsidian website today. The contents of Avowed Update 1.4 include arachnophobic modes for those who like giant spiders, as well as valuable additions that look like faceless chunks and include adjustments to map exploration, but it’s a roadmap that portrays the brightest future.
Obsidian has three major updates to Avowed in 2025. These first are live with update 1.4 and come with mouse and keyboard support on Xbox, more gold and crafting materials, gear adjustments, new party camping features and more. If those who haven’t traveled to EORA are not yet convinced, the summer update is said to come with improved cooking and crafting, new NPC interactions, additional weapons and armor, and finally custom map markers.
Finally, at least as far as this year is concerned, Avowed’s fall update will close 2025 with new requested features in the new Game Plus and Photo Mode. This isn’t necessarily the biggest update for Obsidian, but is said to come with new weapon types, abilities to change the appearance of the world, and more character presets. Developers also acknowledge those who want to support more languages and play openly.
“We also want to recognize players from Korea, Japan and French-speaking regions,” explained Obsidian. “We know how important it is to experience the game in your preferred language. And we are actively working on localized versions of Korean and Japanese, and we are committed to providing continuous improvements to French. We promise to provide these updates as soon as we are ready.
Avowed was released on February 18, 2025 and is now available for PC and Xbox Series X | S and Game Pass. Features and improvements!
Arachnophobia Safe Mode
The highly requested Arachnophobia mode is now available in Avowed! You can enable this option in the Accessibility menu to replace all the spiders in the game with a small sword-wielding sphere. It should be noted that the appearance is “friendly” but remains just as deadly.
Community highlights
- When players explore almost all of the accessible areas on the map, the entire map of war fog is automatically cleared.
- Entering a city on a land map (for example, entering North Paradis on Dawnshore) reveals the corresponding section of the land map.
- The radius to clean the fog during exploration increases significantly, allowing players to reveal more maps as they move.
- Creatures are killed and there is an opportunity to drop the booty.
- Players can wait to spend time while they are in party camp (day/night cycle).
- With the exception of the entrance to Ryngrim, which requires Yatzli interaction, soul pod throwables the illusion.
- Added a setting option to display chests in minimap.
- Added a configuration option to cancel power attacks with bows and Arquebus.
Improve global reactivity
- The arrows will naturally fall and hit the ground.
- When a player enters or lights a weapon, the water reacts to splashes and ripples.
Adjusting the economy and the loot
- Creatures now drop loot when killed.
- Added more weapons to loot throughout the game. This includes pre-upgraded (+1, +2, +3 versions).
- Increased financial rewards for main pass quests and exploration.
- Small booty containers such as backpacks and lockboxes can now contain larger items such as body armor and large weapons, leading to more fair and dispersed drops.
- Significantly increased the decline rate of creature parts (can also be used to upgrade Grimoire).
- Increased the rate of decline in high-rise weapons in later regions.
- The updated route list is intended to include slightly upgraded materials.
UI/UX improvements
- Added visual effects and UI indicators to help players find fellow comrades during battle.
- The “Talk” interaction prompt for friends has been enabled.
- Added support for mouse and keyboard input to Xbox.
- Updated road screen art for Dawnshore and Fort North Reach Maps.
- I added the “Auto-Detect” option to the graphics menu to find and set recommended hardware settings.
- NVIDIA DLSS frame generation support (RTX 40 and 50 series GPUs).
- Added a “Read All” button to the journal. Each tab (quest, documentation, tutorial) has its own dedicated button.
Combat Update
- The enemy is now shocked quickly while standing in the water.
- You can now upgrade Grimoire using creature parts.
Improve your companion
- Companions earn ability points every 3 levels, increasing their maximum value from 8 to 11. Players will automatically receive additional points on updates.
The enemy’s actions
- The speed of enemy recognition is dynamically adjusted based on the distance from the player. Closer enemies will detect players faster, while farther enemies will respond more slowly.
Update a unique item
- Updated stats for many unique items throughout the game:
- March Brigandine Jacket: Improved regeneration rate.
- The impact of civilization: increased reduction in damage to beasts, primitives, and Wilders.
- Blessed Wards of Belas: Increase in damage reductions on ships increased to 20%.
- Chitin Band: Reduction in damage to the animal has increased to 20%.
- Nimanna Ward: Increase in loss reductions to spirits increased to 20%.
- Wildwalker Ring and Faithful Thread: Increase in Health Regeneration has increased from 0.05 to 0.5.

Quests and conversations

- Early in the quest, when players talk to prison guards, the quest “Homecoming” progresses correctly.

Combat/System fixes

- Stamina drain aura visual effects cast by ghost-type enemies will end correctly with effect rather than double the length
- Added booty drops for killable creatures
- Fixed an issue with crackling bolts that did not properly apply impact accumulation
- Fixed an issue with bear feed enemies that could survive Kai when attacking
- Allies affected by the accumulation of impact will no longer be electrocuted by each other in the loop.
- Improving the rate of lightning accumulation in water hazards

- Fixed an issue where completing certain quests with old saves would not count properly to achieve pentiment.
- Fixed a “Wild for the Wild for the Wiles for the Wiles” quest that gets stuck in the “Collect ingredients” stage.
- Makes the proxy actor enter/end the destination point.
- The booty-free dead encounter character will no longer be revived
- Fixed an issue where HUD was not fading out due to end slides
- Improved optimization for Essence Wisp Spawning
- Improve the appearance of hair, beard and fur when using FSR at lower quality levels
- Fixed an issue where player stock slots remained empty when equipping LMB+rmb together

- Attacking with a specific weapon will no longer double the stamina drain when attacking speed is high
- Distant beetles do not become mantle cliffs when they are searching for a location for a ranged attack.

- Fixed an issue where summoned characters could allow the Summoner to live longer.
- If the enemy may disappear for story reasons, you will still find unclaimed loot from the killed enemy

- Fixed an issue where picking up totem pieces could add them to party stash instead of player stock

- The enemy of Xaurip Camp on Dawnshore will receive a proper warning when you break a destructible wall
- The purple glow of missile salvos has now disappeared when the orb does it.
- The enemy no longer has a permanent shiny effect applied to them “Sapadal’s Wrath”
The ability will be cancelled - When a ranged enemy appears in your vision range, the player will be partially recognized behind the wall.
- Added accessibility settings to change the way players interact with ladders.
- Fixed an issue with players who could be kicked out of the bottom of a ladder.
- Smoothed the blend to get into the top of the ladder
- Ladder Interact mode (automatic, mixed, manual) has been added.
Localization fixes
- Fixed localized strings in the Polish “sound mix” option.
- Fixed Polish translation of fast travel beacons in Derem Gun Grade of Emerald Stairs
- The voice correctly recognizes the player’s pronouns during conversations in the bead, while playing in Polish.
- Fixed translation of the Polish “Vindictive Band” item.
- Correct translation of the DLSS description.
