Among US developers, Innersloth has discovered a reference to the game in a new chapter in Deltarune, causing a bit of a friendly exchange on social media between Innersloth and Deltarune’s developer Toby Fox.
caveat! Although this article will not cover spoilers for the main plot, if you don’t want to know anything about what happened in Deltarné Chapter 4, this article may not be for you.
References can be found at the beginning of chapter 4, where Chris, Susie and Noel explore Noel’s house. Chris is able to lead the gang into a closet filled with empty gift boxes, and if Chris chooses to look through several boxes, Noel asks Chris what he’s doing.
In response, Susie retorts, “I… I have to admit that this room is a bit of a SUS… especially the vent.” Noel replies, “Haha, a nice reference, Susie!” …Susie doesn’t seem to know what Noel is talking about (“Huh?…see?”)
Of course, Susie accidentally used the word “SU” and mistakenly recalls by referencing vents that are often hidden among our players.
In response, Fox decided to do some trolling:

He posted a fake screenshot of Deltarné’s patch notes.
I’ve released Hotfixes for PC and Mac to fix some issues that arise in the game. You can check the version number at the bottom right of the file selection screen.

Innersloth replied with “respect.” If not clear, Fox did not actually remove the reference. He’s just tired. Interestingly, this gag is also a stupid way to note that Fox plays with version numbers. Chapters 1 and 2 2021 releases were marked as version 1.0, but not Chapters 3 and 4, the new release was v.0.0.087.
Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 were released last week, and the instant surge in popularity on Steam gave our own reviewers 9/10.
