How often do you think about the Roman Empire? The meme went viral in 2023 and may have felt like a joke. Until it becomes clear that people are always thinking about it. Ubisoft Mainz takes advantage of its obsession with the next historic city builder: 117: Roman PaxFinally, give the fans of the franchise what they longed for: the opportunity to get hooked on the Roman Empire and build your own empire.
“Roma has been a wish from fans forever, because not only the fans, but our team (…) are iconic and always-present empires,” said Manuel Liner, the game’s creative director.
Ubisoft Mainz released the City Builder Gameplay Showcase on Tuesday, along with a wave of first impressions from content creators. This expanded preview session was held in style within the Rome Horti Sallustiani, previously owned by Horti Caesaris.
Based on what has been shown so far, 117: Roman Pax It is becoming one of the most exciting entries in the long-term series. Anno 1800historically set in the Industrial Revolution, outperforming the more futuristic titles of the franchise. Anno 2070 and ANNO 2205. and 117: Roman Pax It appears to carry that historic torch forward (by moving forward 1, 683 years later).
The most immediate improvement from previous installments is the ability to build obliquely. The strict 90 degree grid of past Anno games has been upgraded to allow for 45 degree buildings and road construction. This change makes the aesthetics of urban architects’ games look much more organic than before, but now there are more reliable, winding streets and farms that take up every corner they can, but also opening up more dynamic strategies, especially for building cities. 117: Roman PaxOther changes.
So another reform of the ANNO formula is how production construction arrangements affect localized areas. in 117: Roman PaxAll production buildings have local zones that provide buffs and debuffs to nearby residents. This makes the building arrangement a more layered, less-standard puzzle than before. The additions of brand new technological trees, layered civil upgrade paths, expansion through combat and diplomacy, and adaptable faith systems provide a better sense of new challenges and long-term progress. With a very popular setting and many welcome changes already on display, 117: Roman Pax I hope it will hurt that constant itch for those who cannot stop thinking about the Roman Empire.
117: Roman Pax Later this year, it will cause players to be governor of Rome. The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
