Since the release of Kingdom Tears, Zelda’s fanbase has split into two parts, half of which say Breath of the Wild is a better game, with others saying others guaranteeing entry for the latter.

There are a few reasons why it’s not easier than choosing one, but that Amount of favorite crafts and creative freedom in open world games. The good news is that both are very solid entries for the franchise.

Breath of the Wild had so many new things to offer, that he became the winner of the 2017 Game of the Year. Tears of the Kingdom was also a strong contender for the 2023 Game of the Year, but ended up losing to Baldur’s Gate 3.

Before you start comparing both games, it is important to know that both games are not just the series, but also some of the best games of all time. You’ll need to play if you get the chance.

Saying that is not an understatement There are no tears in the wild, breathless kingdom. But we can’t ignore the many flaws that the sequel has improved.

tie

The visuals feel more or less the same, whether you’re in the wild or playing the kingdom tears.

Technically, Kingdom Tears have a bit of a good detail, but this is only noticeable when playing two games side by side.

The good thing about this is that even though my son’s tears are six years older than the kingdom’s tears. After playing a new entry, when playing an old entry, you do not consider it a downgrade.

Whether you ride a horse into the empty field of Hyrule, climb a mountain, or simply fight a Bokoblin mob, the game feels like home, regardless of the game you first played.

Open World

The tears of the kingdom

Regarding the open world, Kingdom Tears have some improvements over the original. Instead of just the surface, you can also explore the sky and depth.

I know that depth is not a big victory in this argument because it is flawed. The biggest problem is that it feels very repetitive and not much to explore.

Also, if you plan to explore any form, you should farm Brightbloom seeds before traveling underground.

Despite being the weakest aspect of the game, this place still has its uses. For example, here you can plough untouched weapons along with zonite deposits.

When you gain depth that’s out of the way, the surface world feels much more fulfilling than the Breath of the Wild world. Sky Island was also quite fun and offered plenty of interesting puzzles.

So the kingdom’s tears win here.

8

shrine

Wild Breath

If you love puzzle challenges, the Wild Breath of Life has covered you. Many people find the kingdom’s tear shrines sometimes too easy.

I think this is because the ability was used appropriately to make the cheese easier through the puzzle. It’s great that there’s no fixed way you’ll need to follow to solve them, but the ability makes puzzles easier than they should be.

In the case of Breath of the Wild, that wasn’t exactly the case. The shrine in this game was tough. For better or worse, you’ll get something fun like Sholaha.

Or your only clue is, “Look at the stars for guidance. The constellations are the key.” After 10 minutes, this clue is pointless so just take a look at the tutorial.

Also, the design of the shrine at Breath of the Wild looks much better compared to the boring rocks Totk offers. So there’s another reason to win.

7

Temple

The tears of the kingdom

The dungeon is probably the weakest aspect of Breath of the Wild. Even comparing their designs to previous Zelda Game temples, the divine beasts were less challenging.

Now, there is one exception. The God Beast Va Naboris, or Camel Megazord, was extremely difficult. But then you are also the exact opposite. Even the first playthrough can be easily completed between 10 and 30 minutes.

As for Vah Ruta and Vah Rudania, they are fine for their difficulties. However, this was not entirely true of the Kingdom’s Tear Temple. This game also has a very easy dungeon problem with Water Temple, but overall, the other games are much better.

Though you haven’t yet got an accurate old-fashioned temple experience from games like Twilight Princess and Ocarina. However, considering what they did in the temple with the tears of the temple, it felt like the developers were trying to bring it as close as possible.

Another thing to add is that pre-dungeon puzzles and boss battles have also been better with the Kingdom Tears. So, in the case of dungeons and temples, it wins.

6

Link’s ability

The tears of the kingdom

Link’s ability in the Kingdom Tears is just right. Ultrahand is a better version of Magnesis. You no longer need to look for metal objects and can quickly grab most of the things.

Needless to say, Ultrahand allows you to paste multiple objects together. This opens up a variety of possibilities for better gameplay. This is because you can make something simple like a bridge to get from one side to the other. Or create complex traps to torture Bokoblin so that Hyrule citizens can never be bothered again.

The recall is also very interesting. Because it can be used to send projectiles back to enemies. It’s not that it’s not stupid. After you upgrade, you can also use that ability to freeze enemies.

Many players miss Clays. However, ascend makes traversal much easier.

Finally, there is no denying that we all missed a faraway bomb, as we don’t have to farm for bomb flowers. However, the fuse is not too bad as it helps in two big ways.

First, you can use it to fuse the weapon. This increases damage and durability. And secondly, you will finally use it on all those tuchie jellies in your stock.

It deserves this victory, given Link’s ability in the Kingdom Tears is more versatile.

5

The power of the champion

Wild Breath

Surprisingly, the power of a champion or sage felt like a downgrade to the kingdom’s tears. The biggest thing that made the original game right was how you used those powers.

First of all, you don’t have to run around champions who have the power you want to use it. It will be used automatically when ready. Having to chase the Sage is one misstep, and using Yunob’s summon instead of Riju.

Another thing is that the power of the wise man itself felt a bit troublesome. Without a doubt, Thurin’s power is most convenient as he can use his gust of wind to press the link in the desired direction while gliding. This power can also blow away enemies.

Apart from Turin, the power of all the other sages felt very strange. Meanwhile, it was very easy to activate the strong winds of Revali, the protection of Daruk, and the rage of Urbosa. Plus, you were always in control of them.

If all of this argument doesn’t convince you that the power of the champion is superior, I have two words: Mifa’s bounty. Did he die in the battle? There’s no need to worry. Mifa is there to revive you and give you a second chance.

As for the power of the Champions, Breath of the Wild wins this match by landslide.

4

Creative ways to play

The tears of the kingdom

When Breath of the Wild was released, there were plenty of videos of players getting creative in the way they kill enemies or get from one place to another.

Whether you use Magnesis to drop metal objects on enemies or charge objects using Stasis to fire on enemies, There are many unique ways to fight monsters in Hyrule. These tricks were not just limited to combat.

One of the most famous tricks used for traversal is bullet bounce, which freezes enemies, jumps from highlands and presses ZR to move to bullet time, launching yourself.

Despite what you can do in the previous game, the abilities of the Ultra Hand are a gift that continues to give you, with the Kingdom’s tears. No matter how many times you play this game, there is always something new to try.

There are reliable setups, such as building a hover bike with two fans and one steering stick. You can always try making something new, like a car with wooden planks, steering sticks and four small wheels.

Or, if you’re trying to get things up, spend hours creating a powerful hydraulic press that’s big enough to remove Hinox and Linel. If you are a mecha person, you can make a machine that kills complicated Bokoblins.

So, no matter what you feel serious or stupid, Ultra Hand wins the kingdom’s tears.

3

Memories hunt

Wild Breath

Memories are central to the storyline of both games. If you were talking purely based on cutscenes, then each one would give justice to their respective games, so it would have been a tie.

but, What breathing wilder than the kingdom’s tears was to use the photographs as a clue. In Botw, Princess Zelda used the shaker slate to capture some photos during her journey with Link and Champion.

So looking at the photos gives you a rough idea of where those locations are. This was a great way to get players to explore. I was able to find the exact locations on the internet anytime, but finding them for myself was very satisfying.

This element was missing from the kingdom’s tears. Instead, all you got was the tears of a dragon. The idea itself wasn’t bad and I even found memories as I had to look for geoglyphs.

However, there is always a small risk of accidentally corrupting, as you can randomly trip them based on the area you explore first.

The execution of searching for a place of memories is not only challenging, but also fun in Breath of the Wild, so you’ll win this round.

2

The final boss battle

The tears of the kingdom

Let’s first point out some good general themes in two games. Both Botw and Totk decided to use Ganon or Ganondorf, a familiar form for one of the boss battle stages, and went to a new design for another design. This kept things fresh, but wasn’t too far from the previous game.

In Breath of the Wild, you will be fighting Calamity Ganon in the first phase of the battle. The character design was interesting, but what I didn’t like about this fight was that if you complete the divine beast, he would soon lose 50% of his health.

Now I don’t expect the Zelda Game to give me the level of Dark Souls’ difficulties in boss battles, but having to fight with my boss in half his health has overwhelmed it a bit.

In the second phase, you will be fighting the dark beast Ganon.

It was good that Ganon saw it in his normal boar form, but this fight was of little use to him as Zelda waited for him to form a sigil around his body.

Luckily they learned from these mistakes and improved things in Ganondorf with the tears of the Kingdom. First of all, the first half of the battle will have two phases, first performing 1V1 with King Ganondorf of Demons “The Threat was Unleashed”.

In the second phase, in “Master of the Secret Stone,” Ganondorf will produce clones and the Sage will help you by continuing to occupy them. So instead of getting a 50% HP head start, the fight is also for everyone.

Part 2 of the battle you fight the demonic dragon was easy. But you were already fighting a rather challenging match in the first half, so this part felt like more for the film, so it wasn’t too bad.

So, for the ultimate boss battle, the kingdom tears are the winner.

winner

The tears of the kingdom

Botw vs Totk winner tears

Before I began this comparison, I thought Kingdom contests and tears would be an easy winner. However, when I was playing both games, I was pleasantly surprised to see Breath of Wild holding up very well against it.

I had to recommend someone or if I chose two, I would still choose the kingdom tears. For me, it fixed some of the flaws that Breath of the Wild had, but it’s by no means a bad game and I don’t both of them are the same.

The biggest advantages of the Kingdom’s tears are their supernatural powers and Zonai devices. These are the best, if not the best things that happen to Zelda. You can create and create things yourself, or watch videos of other people’s works. You can literally spend hours on it and never get bored.

So, it was a close competition, but I am pleased that the Kingdom’s tears won. Is Totk the best Zelda game ever? For me, no, I still reserve that title for the Ocarina. But is that a very close second? absolutely!
