New Xbox-only games like Hellblade 2 and Gears of War have made their way to the PS5, suggesting wider availability.
With PS5’s Gears of War confirmed, it’s certainly true that all bets are off when it comes to first-party Xbox franchises that appear on other platforms.
This time, the new Xbox Series X | S Game heading for the PS5 is not so surprising given that the first game in the series is already available on the PlayStation platform.
This summer, the original Xbox movie was able to be eliminated on the PS5.
The game we’re referring to is senua’s saga: helblade 2 from Ninja Theory. This confirmed that Sony will be released on the PS5 over the summer. The game was rumoured to be one set that will be revealed at the PayStation State of Play event this February.
That didn’t happen, but considering today’s announcement, the rumors were still true. Of the Xbox-only games before heading to other platforms, this is probably the most surprising one. Given that the first game, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, was released on the PS4 in 2017, this was before Microsoft acquired the Ninja theory in 2018.
Hellblade 2 is the sequel to the award-winning Hellblade, and follows Senua’s survival journey through Viking Iceland. This is one of the action games like movies, and has won a great reception as there are over 6,000 “very positive” reviews on Steam alone.
At Open Critic, Hellblade 2 receives “strong” ratings from over 150 professional reviews, but this is not an easy task. Their visuals, sound design and storytelling have been praised by critics, but their combat has been criticized for their lack of depth.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 does not have any locking release dates for PS5 other than “Summer.”
The next major hit that hit the PS5, registered on the former Xbox, is Gears of War, which will be released on August 26, 2025. The reloaded version of the third-person shooter game includes all the content, cross-play, campaign loading screens and other features.
