Switch 2 has a new charging setting to preserve your battery’s life

Here’s how to upload all your Switch data before you sell it for a Switch 2

Nintendo opts two owners who will keep the system’s batteries from charging when they reach “about 90%” as part of their efforts to maintain the battery life of the system. Nintendo revealed new features in Nintendo’s today’s app on Monday.

“The Nintendo Switch 2 system stops charging when the remaining approximately 90% of the battery is reached,” Nintendo said. “Stop charging at about 90% reduces battery deterioration.” Nintendo added, “If “about 90%” is turned on, then the charging speed slows down by about 90%, “you will stop charging.”

This feature is turned on through the main switch 2 interface and can stop charging at System Settings > System > > Approximately 90%.

Similar options are available on smartphones, tablets and laptops, and users limit the maximum charge of lithium-ion batteries, typically 80-85%, extending the battery life. Valve is testing similar features of the steam deck with a beta client update. “Limiting the charging limit to 80% can help with long-term battery health,” Valve said in a patch note last week. “This is useful when your steam deck is constantly being charged (i.e. docked) or when the battery is rarely exhausted.”

Switch 2 owners will find themselves in a situation where they explain whether the valve is docked and connected to the TV or whether they play regularly enough to not completely drain the battery.
