If you want to get video game-inspired replicas or figurines while traveling, think carefully about bringing in what appears to be a weapon to work in your baggage.
That’s at least from a recent post by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) discussing prohibited items. As Dexerto discovered, the Facebook TSA account highlighted a replica figurine of a monkey bomb from the zombie mode of Call of Duty, found in a check bag by an officer at Boston Logan International Airport.
Monkey bombs, or cymbal monkeys, have appeared in numerous Call of Duty games, from worlds to Black Ops. But it is also a replica of a weapon in which dynamite and cables appear to be tied up.
“This monkey may earn points in the game, but in reality, leave gear on the loadout screen, not baggage,” the post read. “Replica weapons and explosives, no matter how cool or collectable they are, are not permitted in carry-on or checked baggage.”
The TSA website also details banned toy weapons, such as “squish guns, nerf guns, toy swords, or other items similar to realistic firearms and weapons.” Maybe it’s at least a decent ad for the quality of the monkey bomb replica statue.
If you are heading to a convention or place where you may pick up some products, it’s good to know. Whether it’s a monkey figurine or a set of Naruto-themed throwing knives, TSA warns you to professionalise your checked or carry-on baggage items if they appear to pose a security threat, even if it’s a replica.
