Delta Force was released on PC last year, rekindling interest in the legendary tactical shooter franchise and making a comeback. Now it brings its definitive free play, modern team-based tactical action to a whole new audience of mobile. The forecast for a mobile release is huge, with over 20 million players pre-registered across the Android and iOS platforms ahead of its launch on April 21st.
We spoke to studio head Leo Yao and Team Jade game director Shadow Guo about Delta Force Mobile’s development, game content, graphics, optimization, technical ambitions, and its play to win, not favorable, rather than favorable philosophy.
Capture epic battles on a small screen
Delta Force features realistic battlefields, class-based operators, deep weapon weapons, and multiple game modes. It is designed to blend the nostalgia of the original series with modern gameplay elements. The game modes are compatible with both solo players and team-up experiences, including the world’s first 24v24 battlefield with vehicles and extract-based PVPVE modes. The parity of experience was a central part of the spirit of the design of this title.
“Our goal was to build a truly uncompromising AAA shooter experience for mobile players who feel as thrilling and immersive as their PCs do,” Guo said. “We wanted to offer players the opportunity to experience a series of modes and maps they have never experienced before, but we promised a lot of action and fun. That’s why we are proud to showcase groundbreaking features like the world’s first 24v24 large battlefield.
Wherever you are, continue the fight
Delta Force Mobile was designed to introduce games to new mobile-first audiences, providing PC players with a way to bring games anywhere. Essential to this is the inter-progression of Delta Force with PC, including support for Google Play games on PC, allowing players to advance and play on both platforms. Synchronized content between PC and mobile currently includes seven maps for war, four maps for operations, 10 operators, 12 vehicles and a set of 55 weapons. Individual progressions of players, including inventory, are also synchronized.
“We wanted to make sure Delta Force provided an exciting cross-platform experience for its players,” Yao said. “Whether players are jumping into quick matches on the phone on the way to work or settling down for a long session with friends on PC, we wanted to ensure that the game is accessible and fun for everyone. That’s why we focused on bringing a wide range of engaging content across all platforms for mobile launches.”
“No one’s left behind.”
Delta Force’s motto is also true in its approach to device optimization. The developers worked hard to make sure that mobile launches were best suited to players around the world with accessible system requirements.
“We wanted to make sure players don’t have to worry about whether their phones can handle playing the game, so we made the system requirements as accessible as possible. For example, the iPhone 7 around 10 years old is enough for players to experience everything Delta Force has to offer,” Yao said.
Delta Force brings high-resolution visuals to mobile with a global lighting system. This makes the player feel truly immersed in the world they have been created. At the heart of its design is realistic operators, detailed weapon cosmetics, vast and detailed maps, and distinctive in-game effects.

Fans of shooters demand high frames per second (FPS) for a great experience. So it was important for developers to secure 120 native FPS through cutting-edge technologies such as Vulkan and Metal when building mobile versions. The team has achieved around 50% more efficiency than most industry-leading mobile shooters, making Delta the industry leader in terms of performance. Coupled with low input latency, the game was built from scratch and has become one of the smoothest mobile shooters on the market.
Play to win
Delta Force progression is based on a play-to-win system that allows new and ongoing players to earn exclusive rewards. At launch, mobile players are eligible to receive several different rewards by signing in and playing the game. There are $500 worth of rewards on PC and mobile as well, including 148 weapon appearances, 21 vehicle appearances and over 270 other rewards.

“We are truly committed to a pay-no-paying system with the development of our game being driven by passionate players. We value providing in-game rewards. We hope that players will enjoy their progress and get rewarded for doing so. Delta Force will always be the first game in our community.”
