summary

  • The PS Plus price hike will affect several countries other than the first announcement: Southeast Asia, South Korea, Australia.
  • New prices for PS Plus subscriptions in affected countries range from mandatory plans to deluxe plans.
  • Existing subscribers will be affected on June 24th, with prices effective on April 16th rising to offset the global market situation.

Following yesterday’s report, Sony has confirmed that it has been added to the list, saying it is increasing its PlayStation Plus prices in 15 countries starting next week.

Like the 15 Latin American countries, countries that get price hikes will affect all classes and will be effective starting next week.

In all countries, the price increase for the PS Plus will take effect on April 16th and will not affect existing subscribers until the next billing cycle after June 24th, 2025.

The explanation given by Sony is the same in Latin America. As the company states, the increase is taking place due to global market conditions. This price hike will allow Sony to “continue to keep high quality games and value-added profits.”

Given what has happened in over 20 countries, I expect more price increases to be announced soon. Does that affect North America? If so, I would not be shocked. That being said, the last price increase we saw in the US only occurred in October 2023. This means that another price will be raised within two years.

Hopefully, I’m wrong, but Sony appears to be planning on raising prices worldwide and is making an announcement by region.

Will the higher prices of PS Plus prevent you from signing up again, or are free games in the service worth the price? If you are a member of PS Plus Premium, make sure you have access to one of the most referenced games of 2025 this month, the free game.
