This week, Nintendo fans received two important information on the Switch 2 features of the GameCube controller. Both suggest that the original switch can improve support for GameCube controllers.
The first one is: The Switch2GameCube controller will only work with games in the GameCube library of upcoming consoles for the Switch Online service. Video Games Chronicle discovered this information in fine print of the UK version of the ads on the controller, but not in other versions of the ads. I contacted Nintendo to clarify the situation, but I have not received a reply yet. Secondly, the GameCube controller adapter on the original Switch (plugging in via a USB port) is compatible with Switch 2.
Remember, we haven’t heard any information about the Switch 2 update yet Super Smash Bros. Ultimatea game that many people prefer to use GameCube controllers over Joy-Cons. The game will continue to work on Switch 2 without an official update, but when it comes to the functionality of the GameCube controller, you probably need to use the adapter from the original Switch. Furthermore, GameCube’s Super Smash Bros. Close – Despite the age of the game and lack of support from Nintendo, it remains popular to this day and has its own competitive scene, but although it has not yet been confirmed to be included in the Switch 2 GameCube lineup, it appears to be at least somewhat plausible for this author. This is one way for Nintendo to make your Switch 2 GameCube controller look really convenient.
Anyway, Switch 2 Smash fans could potentially bind this upcoming console cycle a bit when it comes to organizing GameCube controller accessories. I have a new switch 2 controller, but I don’t work Smash ultimate; For that purpose, you need to have a GameCube adapter handy. It’s not clear either as to whether the Switch 2 GameCube controller will work with that adapter (again, Nintendo hasn’t responded to passthecontroller’s question about this yet). All I could do was expect an adapter I’ll do it However, I’ll use a new controller.
That said, Smash fans are an enterprising bunch, and despite hurdles along the way, they have kept GameCube controllers alive for many years. So I’m sure they’ll put up with this. However, it seems a bit odd that you have a Switch 2 GameCube controller that works with games outside the GameCube library, as well as needing the original Switch accessories to allow it, but at least there seems to be a way to use the GameCube controller across the new system.
