‘Cozy horror’ game The Midnight Walk feels like walking through a Mad God world

A few minutes after my first appearance Midnight walkI thought to myself, Wait, is this actually a game? Isn’t it a cutscene? What I was watching looked like a gorgeous stop motion animated short film, but soon I noticed that the Moonhood Studios developers were showing real-time gaming footage.

Midnight walk Looks like a stop motion movie, Raffil Tipets Food is good Or older tool videos are because the game’s characters, monsters and environments are made up of real physical materials. Klaus Lyngeled of Moenhood says the studio has sculpted around 700 objects, cheated on 3D, and turned them into polygonal models. The characters are animated with stop motion stutters, and the camera has shallow depth to complete the appearance.

Ringel and writer Olov Redmalm describe their first person, story-driven puzzle game as a “cozy horror adventure” filled with quirky eccentrics and friendly monsters. The story spans multiple chapters of fairy tales, but there is a consistent theme between them. It brings back light to warmth, contrast and dark worlds.

Midnight walk Starting with the game’s main character, burnt burnt one, you dig yourself out of the grave and repair your body. As they travel the honorable highway for midnight walks, they are joined by a charming, goofy little creature known as the Pote Boy. There’s something a little brave about this guide and companion’s mind. Using Potboy’s flames and a series of matches, players bring light to midnight walks and fight enemies.

There is puzzle solved and stealth throughout the game, and even a button dedicated to just closing your eyes. (Moon Ood promises binaural audio, suggesting players will experience it Midnight walk There’s even “gunplay” while wearing headphones. The developers showed that the burnt would acquire weapons to shoot bright matches, giving players an extended range to fight monsters and solve puzzles.

For many Midnight walk Thanks to Potboy, it lives on in its “cozy” descriptor. There are some real, scary things here too. All monsters and bosses are some variations of twisted freaks. There are cyclopian mutants, giant spider-like horror, leather-like strange things with stitched eyes, and slug creatures with anger-like slug problems.

Developer’s listed inspiration (On the wall of the garden, Nightmare before ChristmasDavid Lynch, Half life 2) It was clear from my eyes in the whole preview, but the combination of the influences and crafts on display makes Midnight walk I feel that it is different from the project I came to before. I’m looking forward to the new Moenhood game. It wasn’t on my radar until last week.

Fortunately, waiting to play is shorter. Midnight walk It will be released on PlayStation 5 (with PlayStation VR2 support) and Windows PCs via Steam on May 8th.
