Hollow Knight: Silksong Community Is Pinning a Lot of Hope on Next Week’s Nintendo Direct

Hollow Knight: Silksong Community Is Pinning a Lot of Hope on Next Week's Nintendo Direct

(like fans of Tomodachi Life) is an absolute explosion following the direct Nintendo today, but other communities aren’t too hot. Specifically, it mentions the people at Hollow Knight: Silksong. The Silkson people are wearing clown makeup once more after the lack of a new trailer for the long-standing Hollow Knight sequel that surfaced at the showcase.

Luckily there’s one more for next week.

Look, the Silkson community has been a hot mess of anticipation and disappointment for a while. If you jump into subreddit or community discrepancies on a particular day, you’ll be overwhelmed with games where constant memes and “Silk Post” fantasies, predictions, jokes and simply seemingly not arriving. Last year we took up their antics. A pair of consecutive directors sent out similar community involvement, turning chocolate cake photos in January into a desperate search for Arg, which never happened. At this point, it’s honestly to be honest to see how serious disappointment is involved here, and how much of a close community of fans have a laugh whenever a new showcase is announced.

But certainly there’s something a little more pressing about this next showcase. Hollow Knight was originally released for PC, but when it was released on the Nintendo Switch the following year, climbing to fame really kicked into gear. There’s also a sense of grandeur about next week’s showcase. Specifically, it is Nintendo, which aims to show off the Nintendo Switch 2, and it is likely to show off both hardware and perhaps some launch titles. What is the best place for Silkson to rebuild? Of course, there are many first-party games, but Hollow Knight fans hope that Silkson has proven enough predictions and popularity to guarantee a spot in such a large showcase.

Could Silksong fans be trying to destroy hope again like the 50th time since the game was announced? Probably I don’t know! However, there are several other metrics that Silksong may be approaching a release date of sorts. I was able to pass it on an indie Xbox wire post about a week ago, but that could have been a cheeky joke. Even more interesting, there have been recent backend changes to the list of games on Steam, such as the Copyright Year update. But we also spent years exaggerating without reason about Silkson being randomly listed from various console stores and being delisted. So who knows?

All we know for sure is what Team Cherry Marketing and Publishing Chief Matthew “Les” Griffin said in January after the cake incident. “Yes, the game is genuine, progressive and released.” All we can do now is sit, wait, dream of something like it would live in a post-Silkson world.

Get ready for next week’s clown makeup!
