- A snake is not the two of deaths. Don’t raise your hopes.
- Actor Luca Marinelli plays the new character Neil in the sequel.
- Kojima shares behind the scenes of DS’ casting process
The other day, Kojima Hideo announced the release date for Death on the Beach. The trailer accompanying the announcement had a very cool surprise for Kojima fans.
If you haven’t seen it yet, we recommend doing it first as you will see familiar faces pop up. Appearing in the trailer is a new character named Neil, who is very similar to the solid snake in Metal Gear.
No, the snake is not along death 2
Sadly, no, a snake will not die.
On Twitter/X, Kojima talked about the casting of Neil, a character from Death Stranding 2, played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli.
Kojima said, “Luka Marinelli, who wanted to play the role of Neil. He learned about him through his role as an antagonist (Fabio Canisaro/Zingalo) in the Italian film “They Call Me a Jeeg.” That was when I was contacted by a representative of a Japanese distributor. Soon after that I received an email from Luka. ”
The email said, “I grew up on Metal Gear. I’m a huge fan of you. I’m a great honour to have seen the film I starred in. I wanted to convey this in person.”
When Kojima was casting for Stranding of Death 2 during the pandemic, Neil is the key character who replaces Cliff from Stranding of the First Death, explaining that unless the casting outweighs Mads Mikkelsen (who played Cliff in the first game), fans are “not satisfied.”
In addition to his casting choice, Kojima also watched Luka on Netflix’s ‘The Old Guard’. Luka decides that it was Neil’s only option in the role and sends him an email with an offer. Thinking about me before he saw my message, Luke said, “This was a spiritual experience.”
Kojima ends the message by saying that he pitched the idea of attacking Luka for Death 2 via Zoom Call, and when Kojima was looking for someone to play Lucy in DS2, Luca suggests his wife take on the role.
Kojima will finish by doing scans and performance captures during the pandemic and thanking him for agreeing to the performance, even if he didn’t have the script yet.
This is something you might see behind the scenes casting something that could potentially be the most controversial character of all time. Hopefully, Kojima will soon share more about the other cast members.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will be released on PS5 on June 26th.
