summary
- Belial from Lord of Lies still challenges players as Diablo 4’s toughest boss.
- Lair Keys replaces materials to unlock boss storage and offers new rewards.
- Season 8 introduces unique boss-related abilities and adjusts leveling to provide the ultimate challenge.
Blizzard confirmed that Belial, the lie’s master, will return as Diablo 4’s most difficult challenge. This is the first time a great evil has been introduced as a seasonal update, and presents the most punishing boss battle you’ve ever faced.
The reintroduction of Belial comes just after the extension of the Season 7 period on April 29th. Devs also teased the return of his old friend.
Some of the evils previously revealed in Diablo 4 include Duriel, Andariel and Mephisto. With Belial’s introduction, only Azmodan, Baal and of course Diablo himself are missing.
Belial is set to become Diablo 4’s most brutal boss
Belial will be the new “Pinnacle Lair Boss.” This means that he will be the toughest encounter available in boss Ladder in Diablo 4. So, if you think Durial and Andariel are punishing, you need to prepare for a fight with Belial.
What’s even more chaotic and dangerous is the fact that Belial could interfere with the fights of other hideout bosses and ambush you in the middle of the battle. His attack pattern differs from his previous bosses. He becomes deceptive in his attacks, so expect a mechanic that distorts reality and creates illusions.
Diablo 4 Season 8 Overhaul

Belial’s return shows a massive overhaul of the Boss Ladder System in Diablo 4, attempting to bolster the Boss battle. One notable change is to use Lair Keys to unlock Boss Hoalds to provide additional rewards, replacing the need to collect ingredients to summon Lair Boss.
Endgame’s terrifying enemy choices have been expanded as Uriba and hatred before hatred are added to the ladder. What’s more, a new mechanic called Seasonal Boss Powers can now collect and equip 24 unique boss-related abilities in the upcoming Season 8.
In addition to overhauling the Boss System and reintroduction of Belial, Blizzard confirmed that leveling will be adjusted in Season 8, following feedback that Season 7 is progressing too quickly.
What more? Each character class has a specific buff and nerf.
With the addition of Belial as a new Pinnacle Challenge, Diablo 4 is even more intense than ever. The balancing changes of the main classes, improved boss systems, and the return of the bigger evil reflect Blizzard’s commitment to expanding the game’s toughest content.
Belial is the big evil that has returned to the beginning, and the bigger questions remain. Who will be next?
