Few places have a shared history for Helldivers 2 players than Malevelon Creek. Around this time last year, it was a site of massive automaton invasions, with divers fighting over scrap and laser fire. Now it appears we are back in the stream.
With the latest update, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Studios announced in-game that players have failed their latest major orders. The Automata Inquination Corps, armed with powerful fire weapons, had great benefits.
“The enemy remains massive,” the notification read. “Reports say the enemy’s strategic goal is to seize old industrial assets in the Severin sector, where automata first appeared.”

Major Orders | Failure
Automata appears to be trying to regain “old industrial assets” in the Severin sector. This is the battlefield where some of the bloodiest battles on the Automata Front took place, including Malevelon Creek… pic.twitter.com/6eqnditm5p

The Severin Sector is home to several planets, primarily Malebron Creek, where players made a final ditch effort against automatons in April 2024 to regain the planet. It was a great experience for anyone who stopped by, as the player fought to retake Creek after losing it first.
The phrase “Robot Vietnam” was thrown away thanks to the dense jungle environment of Malevelon Creek. It was very noteworthy that Arrowhead released a cape to commemorate the battle to regain the planet.
Currently, Heldivar is preparing for scraps as automatons may return sectors to regain territory.
“I’m afraid of a part of me because I was there, but another part of me wants to go back,” one Reddit user wrote in response to a post about major order updates. “…part of me didn’t leave,” replied another.
Some have announced they’re coming back, while others are ready to hold back again. “I fought hard for that planet once, but I’m ready to do so again,” replied one user.
However, the failure of major order raised another point of concern for Helldivers 2 players. As one post outlined, some major orders can be frustrating to not reach, organize or feel incentive. As responders point out, active player bases can also vary, making quantity-driven orders difficult if they are not based on current averages.
One player states briefly. Further responses suggest percentage-based scaling.
Failure can be interesting storytelling, as evidenced by the first fight at Malevelon Creek. But it will be interesting to see how Arrowhead handles it all along towards what feels like a big moment for Helldivers 2. The team teased a return to one of the most infamous combat sites and sent a black hole directly to Super Earth. There has been no shortage of threats for the Heldivirs lately.
